Synopsis of Nancee's Plumbline Series

Unfulfilled Purpose: Every human being has a desire to experience a life of significance. This process or goal of that accomplishment is different for each individual. It may be in the form of a profession, a harmonious home, a ministry or perhaps a dream that would seem impossible to realize. Success is completing that purpose for which we were called from our mother's womb.

There are many things that hinder our progress, but in many years of soul-searching, Bible reading, self-help courses and traveling five-thousand miles from home per God's direction, to attend a school of Biblical counseling at the ripe "old age" of forty, (!) I have come to one conclusion: Our becoming fully who we are is sabotaged by a love deficit.  This deficit must be filled before one can truly fulfill God's purpose.  One must first receive God's love through our early childhood authority figures, or our love relationships with others as well as our relationship with GOD will be only on the performance level.  

Self-defeating Walls:  Parents who have walls around their hearts are unable to express their love to their children in a manner in which their child really feels loved.  An adult can have the foresight to excuse someone's actions that are unloving, however, a child cannot edit the behavior they experience.  Even if the child has not experienced physical, verbal or sexual abuse, if the parents are not emotionally there for them, or if situation exists where they are absent while working  or possibly engrossed in television, and/or other activities that takes their attention from the child, this child interprets this lack of attention as the fact that they are unworthy of love. The end result?  The child begins to develop walls around their hearts as a defense mechanism.

These walls are generally the basis of rebellious behavior or self-rejection. This rebellion or feelings of shame (self-rejection) are acted out in a myriad of ways. Furthermore, these self-protective walls are carried forward, from generation to generation. Walls are not only the origin of relationship problems, but they stand between us and God.  Thy walls are ever before me  Isa. 49:16. The individual bricks that are a part of the construction of these relationship-damaging walls are exposed in the Plumbline series.

Originator – Dr. Bruce Thompson: I originally studied the Plumbline Series course, taught by Dr. Bruce Thompson, at the University of the Nations (Youth With A Mission) in Kailua-Kona, HI in 1985.  "Dr. Bruce," a medical missionary, was baffled when attempting to treat patients with no medical basis for their illnesses.  He had already been trained not only in medicine, but psychology and in desperation for answers, he made an in-depth study into the Word of God.  He learned that walls are significant not only in Old Testament, but in New Testament scripture and he was able to discern a connection to the walls spoken of in scripture to those that affect one's personality, our relationships with one another as well as with God.  He came to this conclusion: Self-protective walls around one's heart must be exposed and brought down through (1) embracing the realization that they exist, (3) they have damaged relationships, and (3) they can be pulled down through repentance and prayer.

My Personal Experience: This revealing course of study has been the most profound life-changer of my life, over the years, other than my salvation as a small child.  I came from a family of church-going believers who did not relate to one another.  There were WALLS, indeed.  These walls were carried over into adulthood resulting in a continuing lack of emotional connection between family members. Crises got my attention! God was determined to bring down the walls around my heart.  This was a necessity before I could be released to the ministry to which I was called, that of teaching other hurting souls who need to be made aware of what may possibly be holding them back from reaching their fullest potential.

The Plumbline series is taught in four classes, which begins with my personal testimony  which is told in terms that are totally unobjectionable to any audience. I do not include graphic details except in groups (usually women only) where the majority would personally relate. I have been betrayed and have suffered much emotionally and relationally through my life-span. However, just in the Biblical story of Joseph of old, the things that were meant to destroy me, God intended to preserve his people whole.

Teaching-Music-Drama:  Thus, Whole Life Precepts and Real Life Dramatists were birthed and have come forth for the education and emotional healing for the body of Christ and/or the non-believer who is willing to listen and see these truths.  The music I have written and recorded over the years is an integral part of this counseling/teaching ministry not only for church-related groups to whom I enjoy sharing not only this course, but the Biblical references found in the 12 Step program (for addiction recovery).I frequently speak and do concerts for secular groups who participate in 12 Step recovery.
