Nancee Tanner
Author, Composer, Recording and Concert Artist, Conference Speaker
& Recovery Music
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Nancee Tanner grew up near the banks of the Mississippi River where the beat of rhythm and blues carried over into the church where she worshiped. Her unique style of song-writing and performance evolved from the unique blend of “soul” music, southern gospel, country, pop and the Broadway shows in which she performed in school. Nancee began singing harmony with a family trio at the age of seven and made her first television appearance at the age of eleven where she won the title of “Pride of the South-land” in a youth talent contest. As a teenager, Nancee was a regular performer on WREG TVs Good Morning from Memphis. An early marriage and the birth of two sons, whom Nancee had the eventual responsibility of raising alone, changed the course of her life. She never lost sight that she had a special destiny that was precluded by many wilderness years. She mapped out this bitter-sweet journey in her forthcoming book titled:
True Confessions of a Single Mom-12 Steps to a New Beginning.
In 1985, this tedious journey took Nancee to Kona, Hawaii where she completed in-depth studies that gave her more insight into her own life as well as direction toward the ministry of teaching principles for the whole person. She has seen the fruit of change in lives as she taught groups on such subjects as Recovery for the-Wounded Heart (adult recovery of childhood sexual abuse), Recovery from Co-dependency, and the Plumbline Series. This is a Biblical-based study on the affects of rejection on the human personality and relationships due to emotional and spiritual walls with the viable reality of restoration. Nancee uses her music as a teaching tool for a special impact along with these courses.
Nancee’s music-teaching was heard on her own program, New Day, on WWGM Radio in Nashville, TN. She has made appearances on TBN’s former Joy Show and the Praise the Lord Show, CTN’s Solo Flight, The Good Life and Morning Edition as well as Family Christian Broadcasting’s Coast to Coast program and The New Jim Bakker Show.
Nancee was a thirty-two year resident of Nashville,Tennessee, where she was an on-staff praise and worship director for a church ministry, worked professionally in the publishing industry and did background vocals in Nashville recording studios for thirty years. She resided in Branson, MO from 1999 and until recently where she was part of a ministry which helped women in crisis. Nancee felt spiritually led to return to Western North Carolina in June, 2006, where she had briefly resided previously and is answering the call of God to return to a concert and teaching ministry.
